PROFESSOR

Kayode Balogun, Ph.D. Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Toronto General Research Institute/ University Health Network, University of Toronto. He is a biomedical scientist and biochemist with research experience in the UK, Canada, and Nigeria. He is currently investigating and comparing the effects of HIV antiretroviral drugs and omega-3 during pregnancy on the development and behavioural performance of the offspring. He has worked extensively and published papers and a book chapter on the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on markers of cardiovascular disease, obesity, and neuropsychiatric disorders. He is a member of the Canadian Nutrition Society, Canadian Obesity Network, American Society for Nutrition, Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences, and the Canadian Association for HIV Research. He has also served as a reviewer for Lipids.

Richar Goodfellow,DDS. received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Toronto (1978), also received Diplomate American Board of Craniofacial Pain, Diplomate Academy Clinical Sleep Disorder Discipline, Fellow American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. He is the Founding Member (2006) and Program Chairman of Canadian Chapter American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (2007-2012). Dr. Goodfellow has successfully treated over 800 TMJ patients with with migraines, headaches, chronic pain, and sleep disorders by multiple programs including the nutrition dimension. Dr. Richard Goodfellow directs the TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centre of Toronto. 

Jian Guan, PhD. RNHS. Specializing in public health and immigrant adaptation. Currently teaching at Ryerson University, president of the Canadian Academy of Natural Health and president of Canadian Association for Cancer Support. Research publications focus on immigrants’ health and acculturation, depression and access to social and health services, cross-cultural comparison of seniors’ physical, mental and sexual health, cultural effects on physician/patient relations, social and psychological impact of epidemics, and ethical challenge of medicine. Course taught include Medical Sociology, Sociology and Health, Values and Ethics for Health Professionals, Leadership Ethics, and Nutrition Practice and Counseling. 

 

Mahir Khalil Jallo, MBChB. CABM(PhD). FRCP Edin.  FRCP Glasg. FACE. Clinical Professor of Medicine & Senior Consultant, Internal Medicine - Diabetes & Endocrinology. Board Certification in Internal Medicine CABM from the Arab Board of Medical Specialization in 1992 and the Fellowship of the American College of Endocrinology FACE USA in 2015. Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh FRCP Edin. & Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow FRCP Glasg. In UK and examiner for the Royal College PACES examination. Certified with Diploma in Dyslipidemia and Post Graduate Certification on Management of Asthma from Boston University School of Medicine. Currently Clinical Faculty at Gulf Medical University & Thumbay University Hospital in U.A.E as Senior Consultant Endocrinologist & Clinical Professor, in Diabetes & Endocrinology. In his record many publications in medical periodicals and Active Principle Investigator in many National & International Clinical studies & invited speakers in national and international conferences.

Rongwen Li, PhD. Research Scientist in the Department of Fundamental Neurobiology at the Toronto Western Hospital.  National Natural Science Foundation of China research projects: <Cardiac myosin light chain and application of monoclonal antibodies> and < The mechanism of Stress - free radical on myocardial damage  and the Nutritional regulation >. Mechanism study for pain and stroke pathogenesis. Postdoctoral fellow at University of Melbourne 1997 - : Dopamine Receptors in Schizophrenia and development of  Anti-mental disorder drugs. Postdoctoral fellow at University of Connecticut USA 2000- : GABAA Receptor interacting proteins and brain diseases (Alzheimer‘s disease, Parkinson’s disease). Research Scientist, Brain Research Centre and Department of Psychiatry at University of British Columbia 2005- : Perturbing the balance between inhibition and excitation will potentially disrupt in brain disorders (Autism).

Xiaoxia Li, PhD. in Pharmacology, Director of Sunrise Consulting Co. PhD. From Tokyo Medical University, Japan. Diplomate of American Board of Toxicology (DABT).  Was Scientific Leader for Nonclinical Development at ApoPharma Inc, The Innovative Drug Development Division of Apotex. Directs, monitors, and manages on a day-to-day basis the execution of designated outsourced non-clinical studies in order to evaluate the efficacy, safety pharmacology, toxicology, ADME, and pharmacokinetics/toxicokinetics of new chemical entities selected for development: reviews, analyzes and interprets data. Communicates non-clinical data to internal and external customers, as appropriate.

Jinhong Liu, PhD. in Chinese Medicine from Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Registered Chinese medicine acupuncturist. Founder of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture targeted therapy, China's National Science Foundation-funded medical scientist. Clinical medical practice since 1988 in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, treatment of various painful disease, paralytic disease and rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other autoimmune diseases, using a unique needle and drug combination treatment of cancer targeted therapy and internal medicine, gynecological diseases. Winners of several provincial department-level scientific and technological progress awards, over 60 publications in professional journals and book chapters. leading author of the "Targeted Therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Project" funded by the China's National Science Foundation and Zhejiang Talents of the Medical Health Fund. Current President of Canada John • Jeanne Chinese Medicine College, and TCM Acupuncturists of John • Jenny TCM Clinical Centers. 

Ying Liu, PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Medical School of Shanghai of China and Ph.D. at York University focused on the metabolic effects of insulin on peripheral tissues (muscle, liver) as well as its effect on the regulation of whole-body glucose homeostasis. Published 15 peer reviewed paper in high impact journals like Cell Metabolism, Diabetes, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, American Journal of Physiology (Endocrinology and Metabolism), Diabetologia, Cardiovascular Research... Currently post-doctoral at University of Toronto in the field of Diabetes research with a progression from peripheral insulin action to insulin production from pancreatic islets. By combining her expertise on the two patho-physiological hallmarks of Type 2 Diabetes, β cell dysfunction and insulin resistance. Canadian Diabetes Association “Learning Series Presenter”. Jasmina Novakovic PhD. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. was scientific leader of Apotex Inc, Toronto, Chemistry and Compendia Group. Research Associate (2004-2007) and Post-doctoral Fellow (2000-2004), Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. Pharmaceutical research scientist with industrial and academic experience, research in the industrial setting, with special focus on implementation of QbD principles to facilitate formulation development for global market; Responsible for biopharmaceutical modeling, bio-relevant dissolution testing, setting up dissolution specifications; Part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Continuous Education, Seneca College at York University.

Mohammad Masihur Rahman, MBBS, PhD.  Currently is the Professor of Canadian Academy of Natural Health working on the specific factors responsible for GI cancer and it’s prevention as well as detecting the triggering factors and eliminating them by changing lifestyle, eating habits and boosting up immunity by food supplements. Medical Scientist, having a strong background in Gastrointestinal Diseases and it’s Management.  He is a former senior faculty of Royal College of Medicine Perak, University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Head of the department and Vice Principal, Northern International Medical College and Hospital under Dhaka University, Bangladesh. Alumni as well as faculty member of Tohoku University School of Medicine, Sendai, Japan. Honored as Chairperson of UICC International Congress, Kyoto, Japan. Former research fellow at Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, Canada.  Published more than 20 articles related to various areas of Gastrointestinal diseases and free radical involvement. 

Lei Ren, PhD, MDS, DDS. As an experienced periodontal specialist, Dr. Ren treated over 80000 patients with various dental problems in the past 18 years. She is the member of both Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA) and Chinese board of periodontology (CBP). She worked as a supervisor in Guanghua Stomatology College, Sun Yat-Sen University since 2012 and as an associated professor in faculty of dentistry of the Toronto University from 2013-2014. Dr. Ren has obtained over three national funds and published over 15 papers in specialized journals (SCI). Her research focuses in the immunology of periodontitis, Osteoclasts formation in periodontal tissues and the relationship of periodontitis and Diabetes.  

Brenda Su, PhD. Research Scientist at the Labatt Family Heart Center, the Hospital for Sick Children. University of Toronto. Visiting Professor at Dept. of Biomedical Bioinformatics, Harbin Medical University, China. Board of Director of Canadian Association of Nutri-Health Education and board of member of Canadian Association for Cancer Support. Guest Professor, Canadian Academy of Natural Health.  She received awards from the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, AstraZeneca Canada, Swedish Cancer Foundation, Ontario 5-Year Volunteer Award. She has reviewed papers for the journals “Blood” and “Circulation”. Publications in infectious diseases including one with impact factor over 12. Her current research interests are epigenetics in molecular pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and epigenetic drugs development, modulating inflammation signaling pathway, and identify biomarkers/targets for congenital heart diseases.

Yingpeng Wu, CFMD. was a doctor of Maternity and Child Health, and an IVF doctor in China. She studied at the University of Functional Medicine in the United States and was certified as a doctor in functional medicine. He is currently the vice president of the Institute of Anti-aging Research of China Aiwei Group, the president of the National Precise Nutrition Medicine Association, the member of the American Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), the founder of the Canadian Rejuve Functional Medicine Clinic, and Canadian Registered Nutritional Health Specialist.

Jane Yuqing YanPhD. in Molecular Genetics, Professor in Medical Science in China. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto. Research specialty in Cardiovascular biology, Cancer biology, Cell Biology and Molecular Biology, and Gene Engineering Medicine. Has supervised eight research projects, including “Researching and Development Genechip (Microarray) Technology in situ” on 863 plan in China (2002AA2Z2052), “Mining Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy Potential disease protein”, “Drug Target Screening for Congenital Heart Block”, “Systems Biology Strategies on Toll-like Receptors-associated Signalling Pathways in Coronary Heart Diseases”. Published more than 20 papers and a book of  “Bioengineering Pharmaceutics”. The human gene engineering product projects she led has been rewarded with scientific and development prize and commercialized to the medical market.

William Zhang, PhD. Scientist in Section of Urology from Sunnybrook Science Centre, University of Toronto, and guest professor at Canadian Academy of Natural Health, board of director of Canadian Association of Nutri-Health Education and Canadian Association for Cancer Support. He was a MD and received Master of Science in West China University of Medical Sciences and Nanjing Medical University (WCUMS), and PhD from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden in 1995. Dr. Zhang was a consultant Urologist and Lecturer in the 1st University Hospital of WCUMS. Dr. Zhang has received multiple awards from national or scientific foundations for his research work and an author for 40 scientific articles and book chapters. 

Sudan Huang, M.Ph, RNC. Registered Nutritional Health Specialist. Doctor of prevention and health care medicine and pharmacist. Directors of prevention and health care medicine department, clinical department, hospital infection control department and pharmacy department in the Sixth Hospital of Shenzhen City, China. Certified as RNC in Canada. Currently work at Care First and Health Benefits Coordinator in Healthy Choice Clinic.

Experienced with nutrition, beauty, and wellness industry. 25-year work experience in research and development at Canadian Pharmaceutical company.

Tracy Liu, Registered Nutritional Health Specialist, Medicinal Nutrition Consultant. She took a path in practicing natural medicine upon being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2009 which led to a complete remission of her RA and regained her health since then. Tracy's practice is about the impact of nutrition on health and how to help a diseased body heal naturally.
